1Who we are
Odia Christian Matrimony ("we", "us", "our") is a matrimonial service for Odia Christian families. We are the "Data Fiduciary" under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) for the personal data you give us.
Odia Christian Matrimony, At/Po Loisingha, Balangir, Odisha 767020, India. Email: support@odiachristianmatrimony.com. Phone: +91 91142 18682.
This policy applies to everyone who uses our website. Notice version: 2026-10.
2What personal data we collect
At registration and when you edit your profile:
- Identity and contact: full name, date of birth, gender, mobile number, email address.
- Location: state, district, city, and your address (kept private, never shown to other members).
- Profile details: education, profession, income (optional), height, weight and complexion (optional), marital status, about yourself, family details.
- Faith details (optional): denomination, mother tongue and church or parish.
- Photographs you upload.
- Partner preferences: age range, location, education, profession and faith preferences.
- Account data: password (stored only in scrambled form), sign-in times, device and browser details and IP address in security logs.
- Activity: interests you send or receive, profiles you shortlist or block, contact unlocks, messages to support.
- Payments: plan, amount, order reference and payment status. Card, UPI and bank details are entered on the payment gateway's page and are never seen or stored by us.
We collect only what is needed for the purposes below. Fields marked optional can be left empty.
3Why we use your data (purposes)
We process your personal data, based on your consent, only to:
- Create, review and publish your matrimonial profile.
- Show your profile to other members according to your visibility, photo and contact settings.
- Let members search, send interests and request contact details with your permission.
- Take payment for memberships, issue receipts and keep accounting records.
- Send you service messages such as verification, interest, payment and security emails and in-app notifications.
- Respond to your enquiries, reports and requests.
- Prevent fraud and misuse, keep the service secure and meet legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not send third-party advertising and we do not profile you for advertising.
4Your consent
- We ask for your consent at registration, with this notice shown beside the request. You must tick the box yourself. Nothing is pre-ticked.
- Showing your main photograph in public previews is a separate, optional choice. It is off unless you turn it on.
- You can withdraw consent at any time under Account and Privacy in your account, or by writing to us. Withdrawing is as easy as giving consent. If you withdraw, we will stop processing and delete your data as set out below. Withdrawal does not affect what we did lawfully before you withdrew, and we may not be able to continue the service for you.
- We record the date and version of the notice you agreed to.
5Who can see your data
- Other members: members with an active membership can see your profile details and, if you allow it, your photographs. Visitors and members without a membership see only a limited, masked preview, and a blurred photograph unless you chose to show your main photograph.
- Your contact details are shared only if your contact-sharing setting allows it, and a paid membership never overrides your choice.
- Your address, email and password are never shown to other members.
- Our staff see your data only as needed to review profiles, provide support and run the service.
6Who we share data with
We share data only with service providers who process it for us, and only what they need:
- Our website hosting provider.
- A payment gateway, to take and confirm your membership payment.
- An email delivery service, to send you service emails.
- Government or law-enforcement authorities where the law requires.
We use only essential cookies: one keeps you signed in and one protects forms against forgery. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies. We transfer data outside India only where a service provider needs it to serve us and the law permits it.
7How long we keep your data
- Your profile and account data: while your account is active.
- If you ask us to delete your account: we remove your personal details, photographs and preferences, and anonymise the account, within 30 days of a valid request (and in any case within 90 days).
- Backups: daily backups are kept for 14 days, so removed data can remain in a backup for up to 14 days before it is overwritten.
- Payment and invoice records: for as long as Indian tax and accounting law requires.
- Security, audit and system logs: at least one year, as the law requires, and then deleted.
- Data we must keep to handle a legal claim or fraud investigation: until it is resolved.
We delete personal data once the purpose it was collected for is complete and no law requires us to keep it.
8How we protect your data
We use reasonable security safeguards, including: passwords stored with strong one-way hashing; encrypted connections (HTTPS); photographs kept in private storage and delivered only through access checks; role-based access for staff; automated checks on uploads; rate limiting and sign-in protection; activity logs; and regular backups.
No online service can promise complete security. If a personal data breach affects you, we will tell you without delay and report it to the Data Protection Board of India as the law requires.
9Your rights
Under the DPDP Act you have the right to:
- Access: get a summary of your personal data and how it is processed. You can download your data in your account under Account and Privacy.
- Correction and completion: fix or update your data. You can edit your profile at any time.
- Erasure: ask us to delete your data. Use Account and Privacy, or write to us.
- Withdraw consent at any time.
- Grievance redressal: complain to us first (see below). If we do not resolve it, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
- Nominate: name another person to exercise your rights if you die or become unable to do so. Write to us with the nominee's details.
We reply to requests within 30 days and always within 90 days.
